Why this bundle

A complete entry into the Japanese journaling system that has a global cult following β€” the Hobonichi planner, the right pen to write in it with, and the brush pen that turns notebook margins into something worth looking at.

We picked these three because they fit together at a level deeper than 'accessories for a planner.' The Monoleather A5 cover holds the Hobonichi Cousin (the size most Western users land on). The Pilot Kakuno is a fine-nib fountain pen specifically designed to be beginner-friendly β€” short refills, generous ink flow, the right weight for long sessions. The Tombow Fudenosuke is the brush pen Japanese stationery enthusiasts reach for when they want to add hand-lettered headers, marginalia, or just a different rhythm to a page.

Buy these separately on Amazon Japan and you're looking at three orders, three shipping fees, and a 4–6 week guessing game on whether everything will arrive. Buy them here as a bundle and they ship from Tokyo together, in one package, with duties prepaid to the US.

Who it's for

New to Japanese stationery and want to start with the gear actual Hobonichi users own. Or returning to journaling after years away, and tired of cheap notebooks that bleed through. Or buying a serious gift for someone who already loves paper goods.

Frequently asked

Do I need to know how to use a fountain pen?
No. The Pilot Kakuno is engineered for first-time fountain pen users β€” it has a smiley face etched on the nib to show you which way is up. Cap on, cap off, write. The cartridge inside is good for ~600 pages of writing. If you want to refill from bottled ink later, the same pen takes a Pilot CON-40 converter.
Will the ink bleed through Hobonichi paper?
No. Hobonichi planners use Tomoe River paper specifically engineered for fountain pen ink β€” it's ultra-thin (52gsm) but the surface chemistry prevents feathering and bleed-through. Both the Pilot Kakuno cartridge ink and the Tombow Fudenosuke brush pen are tested compatible. This is one of the main reasons Hobonichi has the following it does.
Is the Hobonichi planner book included, or just the cover?
Cover only. Hobonichi sells covers and planner books separately β€” the cover is the long-term object (you keep it for years), the planner is the annual refill. The Monoleather A5 fits any Hobonichi Cousin or A5-sized notebook insert. If you want the current year's Cousin planner too, search 'Hobonichi Cousin' and add it to your order.
How does shipping work?
Everything ships from our Tokyo hub as one package via Japan Post ePacket Light. Typically 7–14 business days to the US with tracking. All duties and import fees are prepaid by Tokyo Carry β€” no customs surprises at delivery.
Can I return it?
Yes. 30-day returns on unused items in original packaging. Used or written-in items can't be returned (for hygiene/resale reasons), but if anything arrives damaged or wrong, we'll replace it.
