About this craft
Iga-yaki (伊賀焼) is a 1,300-year-old pottery tradition from Mie Prefecture. Iga clay is naturally porous and heat-resistant, ideal for donabe cooking. Uncoated finish allows clay to breathe and absorb subtle flavors—a hallmark of Japanese earthenware philosophy.
Description
Iga earthenware donabe pot, microwave-safe 6-inch size, 100% made in Japan
Hand wash gently; uncoated earthenware absorbs water and flavors. Dry completely before storage. First use: soak 15 minutes in clean water to season. Stovetop: use medium heat, never direct high flame. Microwave: 10-minute warm-up is typical. Avoid thermal shock—do not place hot pot on cold surfaces. Small crazing (hairline cracks) on interior is normal and does not affect function.
