About this craft
Agarwood (jinkō, 沈香) is Japan's oldest luxury fragrance material, used in temple ritual for over 1,500 years. The name derives from its density: jinkō means 'sinking fragrance' because aged agarwood sinks in water. Authentic jinkō takes 50+ years to form naturally.
