About this craft
Banko-yaki (万古焼) is a regional pottery tradition from Mie Prefecture, established in the 18th century. Known for unglazed porous earthenware that ages naturally in the kitchen, Banko ceramics are foundational to Japanese home cooking and tableware culture.
Description
Hand-formed Banko-yaki rice pot in limited magenta glaze, 2–3 cup capacity
Hand wash gently; avoid sudden temperature changes. Do not soak for extended periods. Banko-yaki is unglazed and will absorb water and patina with time, which is part of the traditional aging process. Suitable for stovetop use on low to medium heat.
