About this craft
Wajima-nuri is a regional lacquerware tradition from Ishikawa Prefecture dating to the 16th century. The dry-lacquer (kakinuri) finish—built from layers of finely powdered dried lacquer and urushi—is a technique exclusive to Wajima. The Sakura Fubuki pattern evokes seasonal Japanese aesthetics.
