About this craft
Wajima lacquerware is a 400-year-old craft tradition from Ishikawa Prefecture, designated a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Property. The dry-lacquer (kiji-shikki) technique uses multiple hand-applied coats of lacquer powder, creating durability and a natural patina that deepens with use.
Description

Hand wash only; avoid dishwasher and prolonged soaking. Dry immediately after use. Lacquer improves with age—patina and gloss develop with regular handling. Store in dry place. Do not microwave or expose to extreme heat.
