About this craft
Kanna (鉋) is a traditional Japanese hand plane, with the blade oriented horizontally and the user pulling rather than pushing. This design allows finer control and produces superior surface finish compared to Western planes.
Description
Compact Japanese wood plane with carbon steel blade and oak base
Keep blade sharp; a dull blade requires excessive pressure and risks tearout. Store in dry conditions. Lightly oil the sole to prevent moisture absorption. Fine adjustment of blade depth is essential for smooth, clean shavings.
