About this craft
Gansai Tanbi is a traditional Japanese watercolor medium rooted in shodō (calligraphy) practice. Kuretake's formulation emphasizes granulation—a deliberate pigment behavior prized in East Asian brush painting for creating organic, layered color expression.
Description
Japanese watercolor set with deliberate granulation for expressive, layered color work
Dilute with plenty of water on a palette to observe color separation and bleed. Works best on cold-press and rough watercolor paper. Allow layers to dry between applications for crisp color shifts. Store in cool, dry conditions to maintain pigment integrity.
