About this craft

Kyo-yaki (京焼) or Kiyomizu-yaki refers to ceramics from Kyoto's Kiyomizu district, a major pottery center since the 17th century. The Genjika pattern draws from kōdō (incense-matching) traditions of the Edo period, where 52 fragrances were named and illustrated with seasonal flowers.
