About this craft
Magewappa (曲げわっぱ) is a 300+ year-old wooden craft originating in Shizuoka and Kanazawa. Thin cedar is bent and fitted without nails, then sealed with urushi (lacquer). The technique is deeply Japanese; cedar's natural properties preserve food and enhance flavor. Miyoshi Shikki carries on the tradition.
Description
Handcrafted cedar bento with lacquer finish, 900ml, made in Japan
Hand wash immediately after use; do not soak or place in dishwasher. Cedar naturally absorbs odors (onion, garlic); rinse thoroughly and air-dry upright. Avoid prolonged moisture. Lacquer surface may develop patina and minor wear over time; this is normal and adds character. Occasionally wipe with soft cloth to maintain luster.
