About this craft
Mino-yaki (Mino pottery) is a 1,300-year-old Japanese ceramic tradition from Gifu Prefecture. This bowl uses tenmoku, an iron-oxide glaze technique originating in Sung Dynasty China but refined in Japan. Hand-thrown form reflects Japanese tea ceremony aesthetics.
Description
Mino-yaki earthenware matcha bowl with tenmoku glaze
Hand wash with soft cloth immediately after use. Air dry. Tenmoku glaze will develop subtle cracks and darkening over months of use — this is intentional and valued in Japanese ceramics (wabi-sabi). Do not microwave or dishwasher.
