About this craft
Mino-yaki pottery from Tajimi, Toki, and Kani in Gifu Prefecture has dominated Japanese ceramic production for centuries. Oribe (织部) is a legendary celadon-green glaze born in the Momoyama period, inspired by the tea master and aesthete Furuta Oribe. Its asymmetrical, rustic beauty represents the Japanese principle of wabi-sabi.
Description
Mino ware is a potato produced in the Tano region of Gifu Prefecture, Tajimi City, Toki City, Zuinami City, and Kago City. It accounts for about half the production of Japanese ceramics. Obibe is a green glaze that was born from the guidance of Furuta Loji, a disciple of Senriyu in Momoyama period. The texture of each piece is different depending on the conditions of the kiln and flame. Great for entertaining and gift giving
