Tenugui are a traditional Japanese cotton towel used across tea ceremony, kabuki theater, and daily life. Chusen (hand-resist dyeing) is a labor-intensive indigo technique that creates depth and color variation. Miyamoto Kenema continues this heritage in Kyoto.
Description
Indigo tenugui with traditional chusen dyeing, 35 × 90 cm
Wash in cool water with mild soap; hand-dyed colors may bleed slightly in first wash. Air-dry flat to preserve indigo depth. Iron on low heat if desired. Chusen-dyed pieces soften with each wash and wear.
