About this craft
Ryukyu glass (Okinawan glass) is a UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage craft originating in 1960s post-war Okinawa. Artisans adapted recycled American glass bottles into hand-blown decorative ware using traditional glassblowing technique. Colors (orange, teal, firefly hues) reflect local island aesthetics and recycled glass palette. Produced only in Okinawa.
