About this craft
Minoyaki (美濃焼) has been produced in Gifu for over 1,300 years. The kiln-change glaze (窯変釉) is a hallmark technique—color and texture emerge unpredictably from kiln atmosphere, embodying wabi-sabi, the Japanese aesthetic of natural imperfection and transience.
Description
Minoyaki matcha bowl with peach kiln-change glaze, whisk and box
Rinse bowl with warm water after use; do not scrub. Glaze is porous and will absorb water; air-dry on a cloth or stand. Do not use dishwasher or microwave. Store in a dry place to prevent mold. Over time, the glaze develops patina and fine cracks, which are natural and prized in tea aesthetics. Treat with respect.
