About this craft
Shigaraki-yaki (信楽焼) is one of Japan's six ancient pottery traditions, originating in Shiga Prefecture. Known for warm, unglazed earthenware with a rustic, slightly irregular surface. Each piece is hand-thrown and kiln-fired individually, making subtle variation inherent to the craft.
Description
Handmade Shigaraki earthenware rice bowl with rustic warmth
Hand wash gently; earthenware is porous and fragile. May gradually absorb slight staining from rice or miso over time — this is normal and adds character. Avoid thermal shock (very hot rice followed by cold water). Do not microwave. Dust occasionally with soft cloth to maintain surface patina.
