About this craft
Kumano (Hiroshima) is a 1300-year-old brush-making region in Japan. Kumano brushes are prized for soft, responsive animal-hair tips. Shodō (Japanese calligraphy) uses traditional stone inkstones and ink sticks (sumi), grinding pigment on demand for each session.
Description
Complete calligraphy set, Kumano brushes, stone inkstone, 11 pieces
Rinse brushes thoroughly after each session to prevent ink drying in the bristles. Allow to air-dry bristle-up. Grind ink stick gently on wet stone using circular motions; do not force. Store brushes in the provided roll. Inkstone should be cleaned and dried after use.
