About this craft
Tokoname (常滑) is one of Japan's Six Ancient Kilns, renowned since the 12th century. The region's earthenware is prized for tea brewing due to natural mineral content and heat retention. Traditional smoked-pine-bark finish (bintsuke) is a regional technique.
Description
Rustic earthenware teapot from Japan's Tokoname pottery region
Rinse gently with warm water after each use; avoid abrasive scrubbing. Do not use in dishwasher or microwave. Allow to air-dry fully before storing. Over time, the interior will develop a tea patina, which enhances flavor. Season new pot by brewing tea for the first few uses.
