About this craft
Kuretake (founded 1902) is rooted in Kumano, Wakayama—Japan's fudō-no-furusato (birthplace of brushes). Kumano brushes are made using centuries-old techniques of hand-tying animal hair and bamboo, distinct from Chinese and Korean traditions in bristle selection and shaft taper.
Description
Kumano-made brush for shodō and ink art, hand-tied bristles and bamboo
Rinse bristles thoroughly in cool water immediately after use to prevent ink drying. Store upright or horizontally in a dry place. Avoid hard pressure on delicate bristles. Replace brush cover when not in use to maintain shape and protect bristles from dust.
