About this craft
Folding fan (sensu) is a distinctly Japanese invention refined over centuries. Kyoto fan makers (including Taniguchi Matsuo-do) are recognized artisans. Urushi (lacquered paper) is a traditional Japanese finish. The craft tradition is deeply rooted in Japanese seasonal and cultural practice.
Description
Pink urushi paper folding fan from Kyoto artisan maker, aluminum-ribbed
Handle gently when opening and closing to avoid creasing urushi paper. Store in cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Do not force ribs if they feel stiff. Urushi paper may develop natural patina with age and use.
