Why this bundle

A full Aderia Tsugaru Vidro set β€” three hand-finished glass guinomi (sake cups) and a matching 365ml tokkuri (pitcher). Tsugaru Vidro is the speckled, slightly cloudy glassmaking style from Aomori prefecture in northern Japan; each piece is hand-blown, so no two cups in the set are perfectly identical.

The three cup designs are named for natural scenes β€” Unkai (Sea of Clouds), Yamawakaba (mountain fresh-leaves green), and Haru no Yoru (Spring Night). They're sized for traditional warm or chilled sake servings (about 60ml per cup), which is smaller than wine pours by design β€” sake is sipped, not gulped. The tokkuri holds enough for about three rounds across the set.

This is gift-grade glassware. Each cup ships in its own gift box from Aderia; if you split the set across two households (one couple, one bottle of sake to share over a phone call), the boxes hold up to that.

Who it's for

For sake drinkers ready to move past mugs and shot glasses, plus anyone hosting Japanese meals at home. Also a memorable wedding, anniversary, or housewarming gift β€” the gift boxes mean it presents well without rewrapping. Suitable for both warm and chilled sake; not for hot tea (the glass is thin).

Frequently asked

Is this dishwasher safe?
Hand-wash recommended. Tsugaru Vidro is hand-blown and the rims can chip in a dishwasher rack. Warm water and a soft sponge is enough β€” sake does not stain glass.
Can I serve hot sake in these?
Yes, up to warm (atsukan, around 50C / 122F). For very hot service, warm the cups with hot tap water first to avoid thermal shock. The pitcher can also be warmed in a hot water bath β€” never microwave.
What about other drinks?
They work for any spirit served in small pours β€” shochu, whisky neat, mezcal. The cup shape (slight inward curve at the rim) concentrates aroma, which is part of why sake cups translate to other spirits well.
Are the cups identical, or do they have different designs?
All three cups have different patterns and colors β€” Unkai (cloud-like swirls, blue-white), Yamawakaba (green leaf-tone speckle), Haru no Yoru (deeper blue with darker fleck). The pitcher is clear, designed to show the sake color.
How many people does the set serve?
Three comfortably (one cup each, pitcher refills for second and third rounds). Four works if you do not mind sharing a cup or rotating β€” the tokkuri holds enough for everyone to have two pours.
