About this craft
Tetsubin (鉄瓶) is a traditional Japanese cast-iron kettle form originating in Nambu region, Iwate. Used in tea ceremony and valued for infusing water with beneficial iron. Each tetsubin is handcrafted, with interior left unglazed to slowly build a protective patina.
Description
Nambu cast-iron kettle for tea; 1.8L, multi-heat compatible
Before first use: fill to 80% capacity with water, discard. Repeat 3–5 times. Then boil water, discard when clear (2–3 cycles). Rinse interior only. Dry thoroughly after each use. To prevent rust, store in dry place; reheat annually if unused.
