About this craft
Banko-yaki (伊賀焼) originates from Mie Prefecture and is recognized as a heritage pottery style. The porous, unglazed earthenware body and namako (sea-cucumber ribbed) surface are signature Banko characteristics. Design and function are rooted in Japanese tea ceremony (chanoyu) traditions.
Description
Handcrafted Banko-yaki blue teapot with traditional namako texture
Rinse with hot water before first use. Hand wash only; do not use soap. Allow to dry upside-down with the lid off to prevent odor. For deep cleaning, brew strong tea and let sit overnight. Avoid thermal shock (do not pour boiling water into a cold pot).
