About this craft
Banko-yaki originates in Mie Prefecture and is recognized as one of Japan's six traditional kilns (Rокuku). Oribe glaze—asymmetrical, moss-green, often with iron oxide accents—evokes Edo-period tea aesthetics. Hand-thrown pieces exhibit natural color variation, embodying wabi-sabi philosophy.

Handmade Banko-yaki plates with oribe glaze. Set of 2, 9cm. Made in Japan.
Hand wash in warm soapy water; glazed ceramic is durable but not microwave or dishwasher recommended to preserve glaze longevity. Oribe glaze may develop fine crazing lines over time—this is natural and does not affect function.
