About this craft

Kumagai Blacksmith operates in Ofunato, Iwate Prefecture, a traditional metalwork region. The weeding hook exemplifies tebiki-fusegu (hand-forged metalcraft) using alloy steel and wood — techniques passed down through generations of Japanese blacksmiths.

Description

Handcrafted steel weeding hook for deep-rooted garden weeds

Wipe blade and handle dry after use. Store in a dry place to prevent rust. The steel will develop a patina over time, which adds character. Sharpen the blade annually with a whetstone if needed.
