About this craft
Shigaraki ware (Shigaraki-yaki) is one of Japan's six ancient pottery traditions (rokuyaki), originating in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture. The "black sand flow" glaze is characteristic of Shigaraki's distinctive aesthetic, achieved by hand-throwing clay containing local iron-rich sand and natural ash glazing during high-temperature wood-fire kiln work.
Description
Handcrafted Shigaraki pottery tea incense burner with candle-heating system and décor glow
Hand wash gently; do not submerge. Dry thoroughly before use. Place on a heat-safe, level surface away from drafts. Candles should be placed in the lower chamber only; never leave burning unattended. Shigaraki ware is porous; minor cracks or glaze irregularities are characteristic of handmade pieces, not defects. Each piece is unique due to hand-throwing and firing.
