About this craft
Shigaraki ware (Shigaraki-yaki) is one of Japan's six ancient pottery traditions. Characterized by porous earthenware and iron-rich soil that produces earthy, natural glazes. Loofah texture (hechimon) is typical of Shigaraki aesthetic. Handmade in Shigaraki, Shiga Prefecture.
Description
Handmade Shigaraki matcha bowl with loofah glaze and earthy black-brown finish
Hand wash gently after use. Do not soak prolonged; air dry. Glazed surface may develop patina with age and use. Minor color and size variation (±20%) is normal for handmade ceramic. Store in dry place away from direct sunlight to preserve glaze depth.
