About this craft
Tokoname (常滑) is one of Japan's six ancient pottery sites, with ceramic tradition dating to the 12th century. Tokoname earthenware is unglazed and naturally porous, absorbing tea tannins over time to improve flavor. The 77-hole strainer is characteristic of premium Japanese kyusu design.
Description
Tokoname earthenware kyusu with 77-hole strainer for Japanese loose-leaf tea
Rinse with warm water after each use; do not use soap or dishwasher. Air dry completely between uses. Over time, the interior develops a tannin layer that improves tea flavor. Avoid sudden temperature changes.
