About this craft
Iga ware (Iga-yaki) originated in the 7th–8th century in Mie Prefecture and became renowned during the Azuchi-Momoyama period for tea wares. Known for porous, high-fire-resistance earthenware ideal for heat retention and tabletop cooking (donabe). Distinct from Shigaraki due to regional clay composition.
