Tsubame-yaki metalwork tradition: Niigata's Tsubame district has been a center of hand-finished coppersmithing since the 1920s. Shinko Metal's black-copper finish is labor-intensive, using traditional patination techniques. Description
Hand-finished copper beer mug from Tsubame metalwork heritage
Hand wash only; do not use dishwasher or abrasive scrubbers. The black-copper patina may darken or lighten with age, developing a natural patina that is part of the mug's character. For stubborn tarnish, use a soft cloth with mild soap and water. Dry immediately. Avoid prolonged contact with acidic beverages (vinegar, citrus) which may alter the finish.
